Why The Cedar Farmhouse?

What’s in a name and why the cedar farmhouse? I began a few years ago thinking about starting a business to sell my handmade crafts and home decor. To be fair, I’ve always been a “maker” of things. I painted my first piece of furniture at 15 years old when I loved all things pink – care of Steel Magnolias — Remember Shelby: “My colors are blush and bashful.” That same year, I handmade all the Christmas ornaments for our Christmas tree. My mom just went along with it all and the rest is history. I make unique, handmade gifts on the regular for family and friends. It’s just a passion of mine.

Now to the name. Farmhouse is easy. While I was from small town in Arkansas, I spent nearly every weekend and most summers at my grandmother’s farm in the country. The farm has always been home, and I still say to this day that you can take the girl out of the country but you can’t take the country out of the girl. I have the accent to prove it, too. The cedar in the name came into play when my parents purchased a 14-acre property about 10 years ago that was full of beautiful cedar trees. We call it Cedar Bend – our unofficial name for the property because it sits on a corner at a bend in the road. There they have placed a nice country home and it’s where my kids now spend holidays and summers enjoying the country in Arkansas just like I did. While not a farm, it still is “country” and we love it.
