Dreams in to reality
Well, I have had a dream for many, many years to take my creative talent and make it into a business. I’ve dragged my husband and kids along to craft shows and antique stores for many years. My kiddos love going “junking”. Although Wyatt tends to buying matchbox cars and Riley is looking for trendy bows or earrings, they still love the thrill of the hunt. I finally dove right in and started actively pursing making this dream into something real about a year and half ago. A New Beginning . . .
What a 2020 it has been so far! We were delighted to say hello to our newest grandbaby, Callie Nicole in February. I can’t believe we have four grandkids now and I haven’t even hit my mid-40’s yet. I’ve now decided to take the plunge and open a booth in an antique/craft mall. I open officially April 1st at The Painted Tree in North Richland Hills, Texas. Right now, I have been feverishly working on making products to getting the right permits. Why The Cedar Farmhouse?
What’s in a name and why the cedar farmhouse? I began a few years ago thinking about starting a business to sell my handmade crafts and home decor. To be fair, I’ve always been a “maker” of things. I painted my first piece of furniture at 15 years old when I loved all things pink – care of Steel Magnolias — Remember Shelby: “My colors are blush and bashful.” That same year, I handmade all the Christmas ornaments for our Christmas tree.
